Stripping systems

In general, part material must first be held during punching and later stripped to avoid pulling up of the part material during withdrawal of the punch.

For this purpose, there are various versions of hold-down or stripping systems, which are generally called stripper. If several holes are close together, stripper plates are installed in most cases. These must be equipped with their own guides and springs. This design is often costly.

For individual or further apart perforations, plastic or metallic stripping systems can be used instead of stripper plates, depending on the boundary conditions and requirements. In one die, several stripping systems can be used with several punches. These stripping systems require neither an additional guide nor additional springs. These plastic and metallic stripping systems can either be mounted on the punch retainers, or are held only by the punch.

Urethane stripper
(plastic stripper)

Polyurethane Strippers are inexpensive and easy to use. They can be used with any hole geometry. The stripper is put over the punch or fixed by backing and retaining plates on the punch retainer. Polyurethane Strippers are unsuitable for use on outer skin parts as they may leave silicone deposits on the sheet metal.

UST steel stripper
(metallic stripper)

The UST Steel Stripper is often used in tight spaces instead of stripper plates. Its compact design makes it possible to fit several punches close together. It can be used in combination with any type of punch retainer and hole geometry and can be additionally adapted to the part geometry. In order to use the UST Steel Stripper, a structurally modified punch is necessary. The advantages of UST Steel Strippers are in their area of application. The UST Steel Stripper can be used on outer skin parts as well as in oblique perforations and tight spaces, always with a relatively high stripping force. The service life of the polyurethane spring used depends on the number of stroke. The Standard design can be used up to a 15° pierce angle.

(metallic stripper)

The DAYStrip stripping system has a bronze-graphite insert and is often used as a standard steel stripper instead of stripper plates. It is mounted on the punch retainer with an M8 screw, can be used for all perforations, is suitable for chamfer and adaptable to the part geometry. This stripper is characterized by its robustness, long service life, high stripping force, high load capacity and its solid quality. The Standard design can be used up to a 15° pierce angle.
